You install DBServer components on a computer that runs a Web service. DBServer manages all communications between the following:
You need to install DBServer to support these communications.
To obtain the DBServer installation program, do the following:
If you purchase the software following the evaluation, you need to obtain a new license number but you don't need to reinstall the software. For information about registering with HHPN, see Register with HHPN.
The download process copies both the server and client components of XLiRAD. For information about installing the XLiRAD clients, see Install XLiRAD Clients.
After downloading and installing the software, make sure to establish a connection to the Internet whenever you start DBServer. HHPN must validate the software each time it starts up.

On computers running Windows or Sun UNIX, XLiRAD installs the Sun Java Development Kit (JDK) in a folder on your root directory. On computers running other operating systems, the setup program locates any installed versions of the Java run-time environment and prompts you to select the one you want to use with XLiRAD.
DBServer installation creates a link to the DBServer executable in the Programs menu.
In addition, the DBServer installation program sets DBServer Executive window to locked mode. You must type your administrative password to unlock it using the DBServer logon dialog box.
To install, configure, and manage DBServer, you should have a knowledge of Web service administration and network configuration and management.
